The franchise's lease on the Metrodome ends in 2011 and many speculate that the team will move to another venue. In the meantime, a trip to a home game rewards the visitor with the sight of thousands of Vikings fans dressed in Helga hats. The hats are thought to mirror those worn by Vikings generations ago. What's more, whenever a significant play is made by the team, you'll be treated to a blaring Viking horn. Minnesota Vikings Tickets to home games are generally easy to acquire and ticket prices can be relatively cheap. Vikings tickets are expected to pick up due to the signing of 'The Purple Jesus'.
The Minnesota Vikings were founded in 1961 by a group of businessmen. Originally, they were granted the right the join the American Football League (AFL). However, responding to overtures from the NFL, the group surrendered their association with the AFL 5 months later and joined the NFL as an expansion team. But, it would be nearly 10 years before the franchise showed significant promise.
Almost immediately, the Vikings employed an aggressive advertising campaign to fill their stadium's seats, and sell those Vikings tickets. While the team was able to fill their venue, they lacked the management needed to help propel them toward a Division title. Finally, after a few changes in the ranks, the Vikings managed to win a Division championship in both 1968 and 1969. In 1969, they turned in a stunning record: the team won 12 consecutive games, the most extended streak in the NFL in 35 years. The Vikings went on to claim the Conference title and the NFL championship during that season, but they got beat by the Atlanta Falcons. Find cheap Atlanta Falcons tickets here.
The franchise continued to post impressive numbers throughout much of the 1970's. They dominated their division in nearly every year. This was partially due to their drafting Fran Tarkenton, a celebrated quarterback. But, even though the Vikings were able to secure their division, they had little luck in winning a Super Bowl title. They earned a chance at 4 Super Bowl games. Unfortunately, there were defeated each time and pretty much there were plenty of cheap Vikings tickets available for sale.
The 1980's weren't nearly as fruitful for the Vikings as the previous decade, but they began to show promise again during the 1990's. They won 3 Division championships (1992, 1994 and 1998) and delivered a spectacular performance during the 1998 regular season. But, the Super Bowl evaded them once again. Much of the 2000's were spent trying to shake up the ranks through a number of trades and coaching changes. Though this was done in the hopes of earning a spot at the Super Bowl, the Vikings have been eliminated early each year.
