A Brief History Of The Patriots
The Patriots franchise began with a slow momentum. Despite their start in 1959, it was 1986 before they made their first appearance in the Super Bowl (they eventually lost Super Bowl XX at the hands of the Chicago Bears). After their defeat in 1986, the Patriots would not return to the Super Bowl again until 1997. Unfortunately, their results were no better than their previous attempt. They lost Super Bowl XXXI to the Green Bay Packers.

The Patriots won the Super Bowl championships in 2001, 2003 and 2004. Under Belichick's guidance, they also posted the fifth undefeated season in NFL history in 2007.
